The Pitt‑Greensburg women's basketball team returned home to Chambers Hall on Wednesday night but was unable to slow down a hot‑shooting La Roche squad, falling 87–41 in AMCC play. Despite the final margin, the Bobcats pieced together several strong stretches—especially in the middle quarters—and saw standout efforts from Jocelyn Bielak and Abby Henise.
La Roche opened the game with a burst of perimeter scoring, hitting a trio of early shots to take a quick 7–0 lead. The Bobcats broke through at the 7:37 mark when Henise muscled in a layup off a feed from Laura Vittone. Henise added another finish three minutes later to bring the score to 12–4, but the Redhawks closed the quarter with a 12–0 run, knocking down multiple threes and converting turnovers to build a 24–4 lead after one.
Pitt‑Greensburg responded with its best offensive rhythm of the half in the second quarter. Less than a minute in, Bielak energized the home bench by drilling a three from the left wing. Moments later, Ca'Mari Walden spun through the lane for a finish through contact, and Vittone scored inside on a tip‑in to give UPG consistent touches in the paint. Bielak continued to attack, knocking down a mid‑range jumper at the 4:10 mark, and Addison Musto added a pull‑up of her own late in the period. Although the Bobcats totaled 16 points in the quarter, La Roche's efficiency from beyond the arc helped the visitors maintain control and take a 51–20 advantage into halftime.
The Bobcats carried their improved offensive flow into the third quarter. Bielak, who led the team with 16 points, set the tone with a setup to Henise for a layup on the opening possessions. Bielak later added a strong drive and another jumper in traffic as UPG connected on better than half of its attempts in the frame. Walden and Kaprice Johnson each contributed key baskets, with Walden slipping in a transition finish in the final seconds to cut into the deficit. The quarter closed with La Roche in front 69–32, but Pitt‑Greensburg continued to generate clean looks and productive possessions.
In the fourth, Bielak's second three of the night came from the top of the arc at 8:46, and Walden followed with another determined finish at the rim. Johnson added her third field goal of the night midway through the quarter, while Henise and Vittone continued to battle for second‑chance opportunities on the glass. Though the Bobcats found consistent scoring inside—finishing with 30 points in the paint—La Roche's perimeter accuracy and points off turnovers proved too much to overcome in the closing minutes.
Henise anchored the Bobcats on both ends with nine points and a game‑high eleven rebounds, while Walden chipped in six points and four boards. Vittone added six rebounds of her own as Pitt‑Greensburg totaled thirty‑three as a team.
