Carroto Hat Trick, Howcroft Clean Sheet Power Pitt-Greensburg Past Pitt-Bradford

Bella Carroto recorded a hat trick in the opening six minutes as the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford on Saturday at Ridilla Field.

The win moved the Bobcats to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Pitt-Bradford fell to 1-6-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action. Pitt-Greensburg controlled the match throughout, finishing with a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 14-0 edge in corner kicks.

Pitt-Greensburg wasted no time taking control. Just 56 seconds into the match, Carroto opened the scoring off an assist from Tiger Santia. The duo connected again less than two minutes later, as Carroto found the back of the net at the 2:35 mark to give the Bobcats an early 2-0 advantage.

Carroto completed the hat trick at the 5:21 mark, scoring off an assist from Emma Reyes. Just 10 seconds later, Carroto turned from scorer to facilitator, setting up Ella Smith for Pitt-Greensburg's fourth goal of the afternoon and a commanding 4-0 lead.

The Bobcats continued to apply pressure following the early scoring outburst, generating nine first-half shots and nine corner kicks while limiting the Panthers to just one shot over the opening 45 minutes. Pitt-Greensburg took its 4-0 advantage into halftime.

Pitt-Greensburg maintained control after the break, outshooting Pitt-Bradford 10-4 in the second half. The Bobcats added their fifth and final goal in the 88th minute when Riley Gesinski converted a feed from Reyes to cap the 5-0 victory.

Carroto led the Bobcat attack with three goals and an assist, accounting for four of Pitt-Greensburg's five goals. Santia and Reyes each handed out two assists, while Smith finished with a goal on a team-high seven shots. Gesinski added a goal and put four of her five shots on frame. The Bobcats finished the afternoon with 10 shots on goal.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Kira Howcroft played all 90 minutes and stopped all four shots she faced to preserve the clean sheet. The Bobcat defense held Pitt-Bradford to five total shots and did not surrender a corner kick.

With the victory, Pitt-Greensburg improves to 5-4 overall and begins conference play at 1-0. The Bobcats will make a quick turnaround Sunday, traveling to Allegheny for their final non-conference matchup of the season.
