Pitt‑Greensburg built a seven‑point halftime lead and mounted a strong fourth‑quarter rally, but a big second half from Hilbert and timely late baskets by the Hawks handed the Bobcats a 54–49 road loss on Saturday afternoon at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.
The Bobcats came out composed on both ends, taking their first lead when Abby Henise finished at the rim early in the first quarter. A few possessions later, Kaprice Johnson buried a right‑wing three to extend the advantage to 8–4. Phoebe Snyder added a baseline jumper at the 2:18 mark, giving UPG a 12–4 cushion before Hilbert closed the gap to 12–9 after one.
Pitt‑Greensburg carried that momentum into the second quarter. Jocelyn Bielak knocked down a jumper at 9:35, and Henise continued to carve out scoring chances inside with finishes at 6:47 and 4:47. In the closing minute of the half, Bielak delivered a crucial swing — sinking a jumper, then stealing the ball and scoring again in transition with just seven seconds left — sending the Bobcats into halftime up 25–18.
Hilbert changed the tone of the game out of the break, outscoring Pitt‑Greensburg 18–8 in the third. Although Bielak tipped in a shot at 9:04 to push the lead back to seven at 27–20, the Hawks responded with interior scoring from Nyema Blair and Bianca Iten. Hilbert claimed its first lead at 30–28 with just over three minutes left in the period and carried a 36–33 lead into the fourth.
The Hawks pushed the margin to 41–33 early in the fourth after a three from Blair, but the Bobcats fought back. Henise scored on a second‑chance tip‑in, and Bielak drilled a three at 7:14 before hitting another from deep at 6:13 to pull UPG within 46–41. Henise then converted through contact at 3:43, trimming the deficit to just one at 46–45.
Hilbert answered with a jumper from Blair at 3:30 and a three from Kayla Johnson at 2:24 to rebuild a six‑point edge. Pitt‑Greensburg continued to battle — Henise added two more buckets in the paint, and with five seconds left, Addison Musto tipped in a miss and completed a three‑point play to make it 53–49. The Hawks, however, added one final free throw to seal the game.
