Pitt-Greensburg continued their Florida trip Tuesday with contests against Westminster and Otterbein. The Bobcats opened the day against the Titans before closing the afternoon against the Cardinals in Clermont.
Game 1 – Westminster 7, Pitt-Greensburg 1
Westminster used timely hitting and a complete-game effort in the circle to take the opening game of the doubleheader, defeating Pitt-Greensburg 7-1.
The Titans threatened in the first inning with a leadoff double by Faith Jones, but Nicole Palmer and the Bobcat defense worked out of the jam with a double play to keep the game scoreless early.
Westminster broke through in the second inning. After Ava Karpa reached on an error, Leah Taliani lined a single to center field to score the first run of the game and give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
The Titans added another run in the third when Jones reached and later came home on an RBI single to right field by Lily Jordan to extend the advantage to 2-0.
Westminster created separation in the fourth inning with a two-out rally. A walk and single set up Jones again, and she delivered with a line drive to center that scored two runs and pushed the lead to 4-0.
Jordan provided the biggest swing of the game in the fifth inning, launching a two-run home run to center field after Morgan O'Brien singled to stretch the Westminster lead to 6-0.
The Titans tacked on another run in the seventh when Izzie Lefebvre singled to center to score Jordan.
Pitt-Greensburg broke up the shutout in the bottom of the seventh. Jessica Dunn doubled to left field and later scored when Kenzie Lang followed with a double to right field to account for the Bobcats' lone run.
Dunn, Lang, and Falynn Reinard each recorded hits for Pitt-Greensburg, while Palmer went the distance in the circle, striking out four over seven innings.
Game 2 – Otterbein 8, Pitt-Greensburg 0
In the second game of the day, Otterbein capitalized on key opportunities to earn an 8-0 victory over the Bobcats.
The Cardinals took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Caitlin Wilkins tripled to right center and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Rachel Miller to make it 1-0.
Pitt-Greensburg threatened in the third inning when Madyson Hart tripled to right center with two outs, but Otterbein starter Kara Mekulsia escaped the inning to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard.
Otterbein added another run in the fourth after Emma Calkins doubled and eventually scored following a Bobcat error to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Cardinals broke the game open in the fifth inning with a four-run rally. Emily Black doubled to start the inning before Amber Bradbury drove in a run with a double. Kaylie Eichorn followed with a two-run single through the right side, and Maggie McVicker later added an RBI groundout to push the lead to 6-0.
Otterbein added two more runs in the sixth. Bradbury singled to drive in a run and Wilkins followed with another RBI single to cap the scoring at 8-0.
Hart, Lilly Buckles, and Keira Rozanski recorded the Bobcats' three hits in the contest. Autumn Powell struck out four in four innings in the start, while Paige Phillips worked in relief for Pitt-Greensburg.
Pitt-Greensburg will be off on Wednesday before returning to action Thursday with a double header with Marywood and Hood.
