Bobcats Split Road Doubleheader with Waynesburg

Game 1: Pitt-Greensburg 10, Waynesburg 0 (5 innings)

Pitt-Greensburg opened Wednesday's doubleheader in dominant fashion, cruising to a 10-0 run-rule victory over Waynesburg behind a complete team performance.

The Bobcats struck first in the opening inning, as Shelby Cloak singled, stole second, and came around to score on an RBI double from Jessica Dunn to take an early 1-0 lead.

The offense exploded in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to plate five runs. After a pair of errors set the table, Cloak delivered a sacrifice fly before Hunter Taylor broke the game open with a bases-clearing double to extend the lead to 5-0. Lilly Buckles followed with an RBI double to push the advantage to 6-0.

Pitt-Greensburg added the finishing touches in the fifth inning. Gabriella Grabiak drove in two runs with a single, Cloak tripled home another, and Taylor added an RBI on an error to stretch the lead to 10-0 and secure the run-rule victory.

Inside the circle, Autumn Powell delivered a complete-game shutout, scattering seven hits over five innings while striking out three.

Taylor led the offense with four RBIs, while Cloak (two hits, two RBIs) and Grabiak (two RBIs) paced a balanced Bobcat attack.

Game 2: Waynesburg 5, Pitt-Greensburg 4

Game two saw Pitt-Greensburg jump in front and carry a late lead, but Waynesburg rallied in the final inning to walk off with a 5-4 victory.

Waynesburg struck first in the opening inning, using a pair of singles and a sacrifice bunt to manufacture a run and take a 1-0 lead.

The Bobcats answered in the second, tying the game at 1-1 when Paige Phillips scored on a passed ball after reaching base and advancing on a single by Kayla Saeli.

After several quiet innings, Pitt-Greensburg broke through in the fifth. Taking advantage of defensive errors, the Bobcats scored three runs to take a 4-1 lead. Ryleigh Kasten drove in a run on a groundout, Madyson Hart followed with an RBI single, and Keira Rozanski added another RBI as the Bobcats seized control.

Nicole Palmer was strong in the circle, keeping Waynesburg off the board through the middle innings and finishing with nine strikeouts.

However, the Yellow Jackets mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. After a leadoff out, a walk and another free pass set the stage before a double cut the deficit to 4-2. A wild pitch brought home another run, and moments later, a single combined with an outfield error allowed two more runs to score, completing the comeback and handing Waynesburg the walk-off win.

Hart led the Bobcats offensively with an RBI and a run scored, while Saeli and Dalessandro each contributed hits in the loss.
