Bobcats Bats Hot in Doubleheader Sweep at Hilbert

Game 1: Pitt-Greensburg 13, Hilbert 2

Pitt-Greensburg's offense erupted early and never slowed down, powering its way to a dominant 13-2 victory over Hilbert in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader at FSSJ Field.

The Bobcats wasted no time setting the tone in the top of the first inning. Three straight singles from Shelby Cloak, Jessica Dunn, and Hunter Taylor—combined with a Hilbert error—helped push across the game's first run. Pitt-Greensburg capitalized on additional defensive miscues, as Kenzie Lang reached on an error that brought home another run before Mia Dalessandro delivered an RBI single to cap a three-run frame.

That early momentum carried right into the second inning, where Pitt-Greensburg broke the game wide open. Cloak and Taylor again sparked the offense with base hits, and a string of Hilbert errors allowed runs to pile up quickly. RBI singles from Falynn Reinard, Dalessandro, and Mckenzie Lamb highlighted the inning, while Autumn Powell added a two-run single to extend the lead to 9-0.

The Bobcats continued to apply pressure in the third. Cloak doubled to lead things off and later scored on Lang's RBI single. Dalessandro struck again later in the inning with a two-run double to center, stretching the advantage to 12-0 and putting Pitt-Greensburg firmly in control.

Hilbert managed to get on the board in the bottom half of the third with an RBI double, and added another run in the fourth, but the outcome was never in doubt. Pitt-Greensburg tacked on one more in the fourth inning when Jadyn Davis used her speed to create a run, stealing third and scoring on an error.

Offensively, the Bobcats finished with 14 hits, led by Cloak's perfect 3-for-3 day with three runs scored. Dalessandro drove in four runs on three hits, while Taylor and Lang each contributed multi-hit efforts.

In the circle, Powell earned the win after striking out six over three innings, allowing just one run. Julia Jastrzebski closed out the game, helping secure the run-rule victory.

Pitt-Greensburg's aggressive approach and ability to capitalize on Hilbert's six errors proved to be the difference, as the Bobcats took control early and never looked back in the opener.

Game 2: Pitt-Greensburg 12, Hilbert 2

Pitt-Greensburg carried its offensive momentum into game two, completing the doubleheader sweep with a 12-2 win behind another explosive start and a strong outing in the circle from Nicole Palmer.

The Bobcats again jumped on Hilbert early in the first inning. Cloak singled to start the rally, and Dunn followed with a double to put two in scoring position. Taylor and Lang delivered back-to-back RBI singles, and Reinard and Sadie Kelly kept the line moving with run-producing hits to quickly build a 4-0 lead.

Hilbert answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning, but Pitt-Greensburg responded immediately in the second. Dunn's second double of the game drove in a run, Lang added an RBI double of her own, and Reinard brought home another with a sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 7-1.

After a quiet middle stretch, the Bobcats put the game out of reach in the fifth inning. Kelly jumpstarted the frame with a solo home run to right, and the offense continued to roll from there. Cloak delivered an RBI double, Taylor followed with a run-scoring single, and aggressive baserunning led to another run on a wild pitch. Reinard capped the inning with an RBI single as Pitt-Greensburg plated five runs to extend the lead to 12-2.

Cloak led the offense once again with three hits and three runs scored, while Dunn, Taylor, and Lang each recorded multiple hits. Kelly provided a big spark in the middle of the order, finishing with a home run and two RBIs.

In the circle, Palmer went the distance, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out six to earn the win. She worked out of several jams and kept Hilbert from mounting any sustained comeback.

The Bobcats return home Monday for a non-conference doubleheader with Washington and Jefferson.
