Bobcats Sweep Alfred State, Clinch 3 Seed in AMCC Tournament

Pitt-Greensburg used a combination of timely hitting and explosive offense to sweep Alfred State in Friday's doubleheader at Pioneer Park, holding on for a 7-6 win in game one before erupting for a 14-4 victory in game two. With the sweep, the Bobcats officially clinched the No. 3 seed in the AMCC Tournament.

Game One: Pitt-Greensburg 7, Alfred State 6

The Bobcats jumped out early and held off a late rally to take the opener.

After a quiet first inning, Pitt-Greensburg broke through in the second. Jonah Marks and Colby Rearick delivered back-to-back singles, and after a walk loaded the bases, Neo Miller came through with a two-RBI single to left to give the Bobcats a 2-0 advantage.

The offense continued to roll in the third inning. James Domer and Tommy Smith opened the frame with singles before Colin Solinski drove in a run to make it 3-0. Later, Rearick drew a bases-loaded walk, and Miller delivered again with a two-RBI single, capping a four-run inning and extending the lead to 6-0.

Pitt-Greensburg added an insurance run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Smith, pushing the lead to 7-0.

On the mound, Conner Burkey was strong through five innings, allowing just three runs while working out of multiple jams.

Alfred State made things interesting late. A three-run home run in the fifth cut the deficit to 7-3, and another three-run blast in the seventh trimmed the lead to just one.

However, JJ Siemon closed the door, recording the final out to secure the 7-6 victory.

Miller led the way offensively with four RBI, while Domer, Smith, and Solinski each recorded multiple hits in the win.

Game Two: Pitt-Greensburg 14, Alfred State 4

The Bobcats' bats exploded in game two, as Pitt-Greensburg totaled 18 hits in a dominant 14-4 win to complete the sweep.

After stranding a runner in the first, Pitt-Greensburg erupted for six runs in the second inning. The rally included RBI contributions from Hunter Gideons, Neo Miller, William Somers, Tommy Smith, and Josh Preston, turning an early opportunity into a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Bobcats added four more runs in the fourth inning. Smith delivered an RBI double, Solinski followed with a two-run single, and Rearick reached on an error that allowed another run to score, stretching the advantage to 10-0.

Pitt-Greensburg continued to pile on in the fifth and sixth innings. Solinski drove in another run in the fifth, while Domer's RBI double and Smith's sacrifice fly highlighted a two-run sixth inning to make it 13-4.

The Bobcats added one more in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk to cap the scoring.

Alfred State's offense showed life in the fifth with a four-run inning, but Pitt-Greensburg's pitching staff limited any further damage. Landon Huth earned the win, combining with four relievers to hold the Pioneers to four runs on six hits.

Offensively, Somers led the charge with four hits and four runs scored. Domer reached base five times and drove in two, while Smith and Solinski each tallied three RBI. Preston and Marks also added multi-hit performances as part of the Bobcats' 18-hit attack.
