Coming off a runner-up finish at last season's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship, the Pitt-Greensburg men's golf team enters the 2026 season with experience, continuity and a clear objective.
With four starters returning, including three All-AMCC performers, Head Coach Scott Adams believes the Bobcats have the pieces in place to contend once again.
"Practices are going well, and the team is ready for matches to start," Adams said.
The Bobcats won't have to wait long. Pitt-Greensburg opens its fall campaign Aug. 31 at the Westminster Fall Invitational, beginning a schedule that will ultimately lead to the AMCC Championship on Oct. 12-13.
Familiar Faces, Proven Results
Continuity could be one of Pitt-Greensburg's greatest assets this fall.
Nine of the Bobcats' 10 golfers were part of the program last season, giving Adams an experienced group that already understands the demands of tournament golf. Four starters return from the team that placed second at the AMCC Championship a year ago.
When asked about his team's biggest strength entering the season, Adams needed only one word.
"Experience," Adams said. "We have four returning starters, and nine of our 10 golfers were on the roster last season."
That returning group is headlined by three All-Conference golfers in Anthony Treonze, Nicholas Thomas and Ethan Rice. All three have multiple years of tournament experience and will be counted on to help lead the Bobcats throughout the fall.
"Anthony Treonze, Nicholas Thomas and Ethan Rice all have multiple years experience in tournament play," Adams said.
Seth Tomalski also returns to the lineup after serving as a starter last season, giving Pitt-Greensburg a veteran core as it looks to build on last year's conference runner-up performance.
One New Face in the Crowd
With nearly the entire roster returning, freshman Louis Nedzinski represents the lone newcomer to this year's Bobcat squad.
While the veteran presence should allow Nedzinski time to adjust to the collegiate game, Adams is hopeful the freshman can find opportunities to make an impact during his first season.
"Hoping our only freshman, Louis Nedzinski, can contribute some this season," Adams said.
Nedzinski joins a roster filled with players who have already experienced collegiate tournaments and conference championship pressure, providing the newcomer with an experienced group to learn alongside.
The Championship Standard
After coming within one spot of the conference title last season, the destination Pitt-Greensburg wants to reach in 2026 isn't difficult to identify.
The Bobcats' runner-up showing at last year's AMCC Championship provides both a foundation and motivation for a team returning much of the group responsible for that result.
"Goal is always to win a conference championship," Adams said.
Pitt-Greensburg will get its opportunity to accomplish that goal when the AMCC Championship takes place Oct. 12-13. With three returning All-Conference golfers and four returning starters, the Bobcats will enter the season looking to turn last year's second-place finish into another championship opportunity.
And when asked what he wants this year's team to be known for, Adams' answer was even more concise.
"Winning."
The Road to the AMCC Championship
Pitt-Greensburg will have plenty of opportunities to prepare itself for the conference championship, with eight events scheduled before the Bobcats compete for the AMCC crown.
The season begins Aug. 31 at the Westminster Fall Invitational before the Bobcats head to the Pitt-Bradford Kickoff Classic on Sept. 5. Pitt-Greensburg then competes at the Elizabethtown Invitational on Sept. 8 and gets its first multi-day test at the Stateline Shootout on Sept. 12-13.
Following a two-week break from competition, the Bobcats return for a busy stretch beginning with the Grove City Fall Invitational on Sept. 28. They follow with the Susquehanna Fall Classic on Sept. 29 and Stevenson Fall Shootout on Oct. 1.
The Red Flash Invitational on Oct. 5-6 serves as Pitt-Greensburg's final competition before the AMCC Championship on Oct. 12-13.
The season continues after the conference tournament with the Cleveland Cup on Oct. 18-19 before Pitt-Greensburg concludes its fall slate at the Dutchman Invitational on Oct. 26.
With an experienced lineup, three returning All-Conference performers and the memory of last season's runner-up finish still fresh, the Bobcats enter 2026 knowing exactly what they are chasing.
For Adams and Pitt-Greensburg, the standard is simple: winning — and ultimately, bringing home an AMCC championship.
