The Pitt-Greensburg women's tennis team made the most of its home court Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader against Carlow University with back-to-back 5-2 victories at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
Match One: Bobcats Slice Open the Day with a 5-2 Victory
Karen Rabe and Sophia Lepore teamed up at No.1 doubles to earn a 6-2 victory, while Gabi Moder and Jazzy Cherry followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Carlow claimed the No.3 doubles match, 6-4 giving the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
Gabi Moder continued strong start at No.1 singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Sophia Lepore also picked up a straight-set win at No. 3 defeating Elle, 6-1, 6-4. Jazzy Cherry added another point at No. 4 singles with A 6-1, 6-1 win, while Audrey Johnson capped the Bobcats singles victories with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.
Carlow picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, and the Bobcats have already secured the match, finishing with a 5-2 victory.
Match Two: UPG Sweeps Carlow
The Bobcats came back in the second match looking for another strong performance and once again jumped ahead in doubles.
Gabi Moder and Sophia Lepore Opened with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Karen Rabe and Jazzy Cherry added a 6-1 victory at No.2. Audrey Johnson and Jenna Eutsey tale No. 3 doubles with a 7-5 win.
Gabi Moder was flawless once again at No. 1 singles, earning another 6-3 7-5 win. Karen Rabe followed right behind with a 6-2, 6-1win at No. 2, while Jazzy Cherry dominated at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Jessica Garcia fought a hard battle at No. 5 singles coming out with a 6-2, 2-6 (10-8) tiebreaker win.
Carlow wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, but the Bobcats battle four singles victories to secure another 5-2 victory.
With the doubleheader sweep, the Bobcats build momentum for their return Tuesday, September 8th, at Waynesburg University.
