Coach Turnley starts his second stint with the Bobcats for the 2014-2015 campaign.
His Coaching duties will include player development, opponent scouting reports, in game adjustments and coordinating the team strength program. In addition to his on the court duties Coach Turnley is a tireless recruiter who is always working towards bringing elite student athletes to Pitt Greensburg.
Turnley returns to UPG after a stint as the first assistant at the Community College of Beaver County under the direction of DeWayne Walker. The Titans posted a 28-4 record under Walker and Turnley. Coach Turnley helped develop two 1st Team All-Americans in Nehemiah Fisher and Andre Anthony. The Titans were Nationally ranked in the top 10 throughout the 2013-14 season including 4 weeks at a team best #2 National Ranking.
Before his hiring at CCBC Turnley was the First Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg where he worked for Head Coach Sean Strickland. One of the biggest highlights of the 2012-13 season was the Bobcats going for 130 points in a win over Wright State-Lake at the Bluffton University McDonald’s Holiday Tournament. The 130 points were the most points ever scored at the tournament. The Bobcats also set a school record by dishing out 42 assists in the game. Another highlight of the 2012-13 season were consecutive wins over LaRoche (79-69) and Mount Aloysius (71-65). At the time, both Mount Aloysius and LaRoche had the best records in the conference. The win over Mount Aloysius also ended the Mounties undefeated home record. Also at Pitt Greensburg Coach Turnley Coached AMCC Newcomer of the Year Rocco Contristano.
Before Coaching at the Collegiate level Turnley spent a season each at Hopewell High School and Quigley Catholic High School and an Assistant Coach. While at Quigley Catholic, Turnley alongside Head Coach Greg Cercone led the Spartans to the school’s first ever back to back playoff berth.
Turnley is a 2010 Graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications Media and a Minor in United States History. While at IUP Turnley played under Head Coach Joe Lombardi.
Coach Turnley is a 2006 Graduate of Hopewell High School, where he was the first player in school history to be named the Most Valuable Player of Section 2-AAA. Turnley is one of two players in school history to compile over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds and in 2006 helped lead the Vikings to an outright conference championship, the second in school history, the first coming in 1971.Â
