GENEVA, Pa: The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team is still searching to find its rhythm after a 69-62 loss Friday night to Geneva College at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament.
Pitt-Greensburg (0-3) lost a back and forth match with the host Geneva, who move to 1-2 on the season.
In both halves, the Bobcats held commanding leads but were unable to finish either half on a strong note. Geneva erased an 8 point first half deficit to take a 2 point lead into halftime, 32-30.
The Bobcats offense which relies on a fast pace, high energy tempo, couldn't find their touch from beyond the arc in the first half, shooting just 1 of 9 from three point range. UPG shot just 36% from the floor for the game as Geneva held the Bobcats to their lowest point total of the season, just 62 points.
Senior
Brian Heinle had a game high 20 points to lead the Bobcat offense on 9 of 13 shooting. Junior
Marcus Thomas registered his first double-double of the season, netting 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Junior
Rocco Contristano also added 16 points in the defeat.
UPG will look to get in the win column on Saturday when they face familiar foe Carnegie Mellon on day 2 of the Coach vs. Cancer Tournament. The Bobcats fell to the Tartans 99-93 on November 15
th in the season opener.
