GENEVA, Pa: Day two of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament saw Pitt-Greensburg squared off with a familiar foe Carnegie Mellon.
CMU cruised past the Bobcats on this day, 94-63. It was a rematch of the season opener in which CMU was also victorious 99-93 in a back and forth affair.
Pitt-Greensburg (0-4) struggled to find its rhythm on Saturday, posting just 63 points after nearly putting triple digits on the Tartans a week ago.
The first half was closely contested, reminiscent of last week's opener. The Tartans held a 39-33 lead going into halftime. CMU was able to able to pull away in the second half to improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season. The Tartans shot 56% on the afternoon while the Bobcats were 22 of 55 (40%) from the floor, including just 9 of 23 from three point range. CMU also edged the Bobcats on the boards, outrebounding UPG 38-26 on the day.
Jerell Figueroa was the lone bright spot on offense for UPG, posting a team high 23 points.
Pitt-Greensburg will be off until Dec 6
th when they open AMCC play on the road at D'Youville College. Tip-off is set for 4pm from Buffalo, NY.
