BRADFORD, PA: The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team used a second half surge to rally past the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford for a key, conference road victory, 95-89.
The Bobcats have now won 3 straight after a rough 0-4 start to improve their overall record to 3-4. More importantly UPG sits at 3-0 in the AMCC, matching their start from the 2013-14 season. Bradford drops to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Pitt-Bradford controlled play for most of the game, holding a 9 point lead at halftime and stretching its early second half lead to as many as 12. Just three minutes into the second half, Pitt-Greensburg used a 16-0 run to turn a 50-38 deficit into 54-50 lead.
UPG shot an impressive 57% from the floor in their second half comeback, including a staggering 22 of 26 free throw attempts.
Marcus Thomas led the charge for UPG netting 21 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Junior Mike Connelly came off the bench to score 19 points, including 4 of 6 from 3 point range. Rocco Contristano chipped in 18 points, going a perfect 11 for 11 from the charity stripe. Meanwhile senior Brian Heinle had a solid all-around game with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
