HAMBURG, Ny: The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team got a dominating performance from freshman forward
Sylvia Stuart (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin East) in 79-45 win over Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks supplied little resistance to Stuart who poured in a career-high 28 points that would lead all scorers on the day.
Saturday's win pushes the Bobcats to 5-3 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and 9-6 on the season while Hilbert falls 0-8 in conference play and 0-12 overall.
A solid all around performance by Pitt-Greensburg would build an impressive 18 point lead by the time the halftime buzzer sounded. The Bobcats would convert 53% (20-38) of their shots and hold the Hawks to just 33% (9-27) shooting to take the 42-24 advantage into the half. Stuart led the way in the first, finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds in 13 minutes of work.
The second half would see the Bobcats consistently add to their lead, stretching their advantage to as many as 41 points. They'd stifle the Hawks with a defensive effort that limited Hilbert to just seven second half buckets in 33 attempts.
Pitt-Greensburg continues their improved shooting after making 48% (32-67) of their shots. They'd also outrebound the Hawks 47-36 and get major production from their bench after holding a 52-11 advantage in bench scoring.
Stuart would add eight rebounds and four blocks to her 28 point performance while
Morgan Biddle (Flinton, PA, Glendale) also finished in double-digits after scoring 10 points. She'd also add eight rebounds, four blocks and a pair of steals to her totals.
The Bobcats stay on the road for their next AMCC contest, travelling to Mount Aloysius on Monday, January 19
th for a 6:00pm tip-off with the Mounties.
