ALTOONA- The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team fell in straight-sets 3-0 to Penn State Altoona in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match on Tuesday evening in Adler Gymnasium.
The Lions won all three matches by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-21. With the win, Penn State Altoona improves to 8-12 overall and 5-1 in the AMCC, while Pitt-Greensburg falls to 6-18, and 3-4 in league play.
The Bobcats had a tough time mustering up an offensive attack as they totaled 22 kills but committed 23 errors. Pitt-Greensburg got off to a rough start committing 11 errors in the first set, but were much better with the ball in the final two sets, limiting the mistakes to just 8 and 4 errors respectively.
Lauren Tassone,
Paige Burk, and
Amanda Ross each had four kills to lead Pitt-Greensburg, while it was Tassone that led the defensive effort with four blocks.Â
Paige Misawic and Paige Burk each chipped in with three and two blocks respectively.
Playing in her second match back after missing two games due to injury,
Emma Dongilli led the team with 11 assists and
Erica Bosh kept the play alive on Pitt-Greensburg's side of the court with 24 digs.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court this weekend for its final two non-conference games of the season as it faces Thiel and Waynesburg at 1 and 3 p.m. respectively. Both matches will be played at Waynesburg University.
