NEW WILMINGTON- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team fell to Thiel 94-50 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in the Buz Ridl Classic at Westminster College.
The Bobcats had their lone lead at 3-1 when
Matt Darby drilled a three early on in the first half, but Thiel put together an impressive performance on both sides of the court for the victory.
Kyle Bondi paced the Bobcats with 11 points and Darby added 10 on 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line, while the Tomcats had four players score over 10 points led by Tyreik Burton's 19 points and nine boards and Avril Campbell's double-double of 18 and 12.
Aiding Thiel in its victory was its rebounding prowess as the Tomcats held a 63-38 advantage on the boards, and a 22-12 margin in offensive rebounds.
Pitt-Greensburg did get great production in the defeat as it totaled 23 points on the bench as
Brandon Miller, Matt Zanella, and
Blake Shields all had six points on the afternoon.
Zanella was extremely productive in 16 minutes of action as the sophomore grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Tuesday hosting Geneva for its home opener. Tuesday's tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Chambers Hall.
