Men’s Basketball Drops First Game Of Captains Shootout To Ninth Ranked Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- In the first game back after a break for the Christmas holiday, the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team fell 96-43 To #9 ranked Christopher Newport in the first game of the Captains Shootout Wednesday evening.

Pitt-Greensburg will face William Peace University in the consolation matchup of the Captains Shootout, while Christopher Newport advances to tomorrow's championship game where it will battle Suny Old Westbury.

The Captains held the Bobcats to just 32.7% from the floor and won the rebounding battle 57-35, including holding a 22-6 margin on the offensive glass.

Mason Eddinger paced the Bobcats with a career-high eight points and Kyle Bondi added six, while Christopher Newport had four players score in double-figures and were led by Marcus Carter who notched a game-high 20 points.

The Captains led wire-to-wire in the victory and jumped out to a quick 11-0 advantage with 16:42 left in the first half and would never look back as they held a 47-22 lead at halftime and went on for the 96-43 victory.
