GREENSBURG-
Jay Grubb scored a career-best 16 points but Pitt-Bradford shot just over 50% as the Panthers picked up a 83-65 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team Saturday afternoon in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.
Pitt-Bradford shot 51.6% for the game knocking down 33-of-64 from the field and came out on fire in the first half hitting 58.6%. The Bobcats also shot the ball well on Saturday connecting on 25-of-59 for a 42.4% clip as well as knocking down seven three-pointers.
Grubb led the Bobcat offense with a career-high 16 points on 6-of-16 from the floor and also chipped in with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Joe Mancini and
Blake Shields were also in double-figures for Pitt-Greensburg with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Preseason AMCC Player of the Year Evan Greening, led the Panthers with a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds. The Bobcats did a great job defensively on Greening in the first half limiting the senior to just eight points, but the forward proved his worth in the second half totaling 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
The Bobcats held their own on the glass holding a 36-34 advantage, which included 13 offensive rebounds that they converted into 14 second chance points.
Cody Spaid led all players hauling down a game-high 10 boards, five came on the offensive glass.
Pitt-Bradford trailed for the opening seven minutes of the contest but with 12:44 to go in the first half would take the lead for good on Jon Haenel's three-pointer. The Panthers would lead for the rest of the game and went on for the 83-65 victory.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday, when it plays host to Penn State Altoona at 8:00 p.m. in Chambers Hall.
