Stellar Second Half Propels Hilbert Past Men’s Basketball

HAMBURG, N.Y.- Hilbert shot 51.9% for the game connecting on 40-of-its-77 field goal attempts on the afternoon as it defeated the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team 104-62 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference battle Saturday afternoon.

Pitt-Greensburg came out hot in the first half shooting 44.8% from the field as it knocked down 13-of-29 and trailed 51-35 at halftime, but went cold in the second 20 minutes shooting just 34.4%.


Kyle Bondi came off the bench and led the Bobcats with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Jay Grubb and Cody Spaid were also in double-figures with 12 and 11 points respectively, while Hilbert had four players tally double-digits, led by Nicholas Parucki and Masia Phillips who each scored a game-high 20 points.

The Hawks did a great job of taking care of the basketball committing just four turnovers, while they forced 21 TO's by the Bobcats.

Hilbert got off to a quick 9-1 start over the first three minutes, but Pitt-Greensburg clawed back to within three, 21-18 on two free-throws by Spaid with 11:41 remaining in the first half.

The Hawks led for the remainder of the first half as Pitt-Greensburg would as close as eight points, but trailed 51-35 heading into halftime.

Hilbert outscored the Bobcats 53-27 in the second half and went on for the 104-62 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday when it faces La Roche at 8:00 p.m.
