Men’s Basketball Drops Season Opener To Westminster

GREENSBURG, PA – The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a 77-55 loss to Westminster College.  The Titans dominated the boards turning 19 offensive rebounds into 23 second chance points, compared to four from Pitt-Greensburg.

Cam Seigfried, in his college debut, led the Bobcats in scoring with 14 points, going a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe.  Jay Grubb was also in double digits for Pitt-Greensburg, going 5-of-8 from the field for 13 points with 6 rebounds.  Kyle Bondi also aided the Bobcats, hauling down 9 rebounds.

Westminster had three players notch double-digit outputs, led by Deontay Scott's double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. 

Westminster took the lead on their first possession and would hold that lead for the remainder of the game.  Pitt-Greensburg kept the score tight in the first half, with Brady Kingston nailing a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two (17-15) with just under ten minutes to play in the opening half, but the Titans would answer back with a three-pointer from Austin Armwood, which sparked a 20-6 run to close the first half with a 19-point lead.

The Bobcats continued to hang around and scrapped their way back within 12 points on a fast-break layup from Cam Seigfried with 6:26 left, but the Titans would hold them off with five unanswered points and go on to win 77-55. 
The Bobcats return to the court Friday evening when they host Penn State Fayette at 7 p.m.
