GREENSBURG, Pa. – Five members of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's basketball program played key roles in leading the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) to a perfect 4-0 record during its recent international tour through Portugal.
Recent graduates Trent Rozich, Jackson Byer, Matthew Marinchak, Michael Bigley, and Joziah Wyatt-Taylor represented Pitt-Greensburg as part of a conference all-star team that faced professional and club competition across four games. The group helped the AMCC showcase its talent on an international stage, combining for consistent scoring, rebounding, playmaking, and defensive contributions throughout the trip.
Marinchak emerged as one of the tour's top offensive threats, averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while knocking down 13 three-pointers over four contests. The sharpshooter opened the tour with 15 points and five three-pointers against Lisbon Select before posting 16 points and nine rebounds against Braga GDAS. He closed the trip with a team-high 18 points and five assists in a victory over Galitos.
Wyatt-Taylor provided a dominant presence in the paint throughout the tour. Averaging approximately 13 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, he scored in double figures in every contest and capped the trip with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in the tour finale. His consistency around the basket helped anchor the AMCC frontcourt during the undefeated run.
Bigley delivered one of the most memorable performances of the tour in the opening game against Lisbon Select. The guard erupted for 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block while posting the highest efficiency rating on the team. He continued to produce throughout the trip, averaging nearly 12 points per game while reaching double figures in three of the four victories.
Fresh off a historic senior season that saw him earn Second Team All-AMCC honors, Byer once again demonstrated his versatility. The guard averaged eight points and approximately seven rebounds per game while contributing three assists per contest. He filled the stat sheet throughout the trip, recording multiple games with significant contributions in rebounds, steals, assists, and blocks, showcasing the all-around game that helped fuel Pitt-Greensburg's record-setting 2025-26 season.
AMCC Player of the Year Rozich continued to display the well-rounded skillset that made him one of the conference's most accomplished players. He averaged 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while providing leadership and efficiency on both ends of the floor. His best performance came against Galitos, where he recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Rozich shot an impressive 80 percent from the field through the first two games of the tour.
Beyond the results on the court, the trip provided a unique opportunity for players from across the AMCC to build relationships while representing their institutions overseas.
"Being able to travel across the world to play the game I love was an experience I'll never forget," Bigley said. "I'm incredibly grateful for my teammates and friends that I got to share the court with, not only from Pitt-Greensburg, but also from the various other AMCC schools as well."
Byer echoed those sentiments while reflecting on the international experience.
"The trip to Portugal was an incredible experience and one I'll always remember," Byer said. "It was a unique opportunity to play alongside other seniors from across our conference, build new friendships, and represent our schools internationally. Being able to compete while experiencing a new culture made the trip especially meaningful."
The five Bobcats were instrumental in helping the AMCC secure victories over Lisbon Select, CD Povoa, Braga GDAS, and Galitos. Their performances served as a fitting conclusion to a remarkable season for Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball, which established a new program record with 22 victories and advanced to postseason play.
The international experience provided the players an opportunity to compete against high-level competition while serving as ambassadors for both Pitt-Greensburg and the AMCC. By tour's end, the Bobcats had once again demonstrated why they were among the driving forces behind one of the most successful seasons in program history, helping the conference complete an undefeated run while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
