Career Games From Seigfreid And Burt Not Enough As @UPGbasketball Falls To Illinois College On Day One Of McDonald's Holiday Tourament At Bluffton University

BLUFFTON, Ohio- Sophomore Nate Burt and freshman Cam Seigfreid each had career-high scoring performances, but the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team lost 81-73 to Illinois College on the first day of the McDonald's Holiday Tournament hosted by Bluffton University. 

Illinois College advances to Saturday's championship game where it will face host Bluffton, while Pitt-Greensburg takes on Ohio State-Lima at 2 p.m.

Seigfreid totaled 22 points knocking down 8-of-17 from the floor and 3-of-6 from behind the three-point arc. Burt provided a spark off the bench for the Bobcats adding 12 points in 20 minutes of action. Burt was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and knocked in both free-throw attempts. 

Along with Burt and Seigfreid, Joe Mancini and Kyle Bondi were also in double-figures for Pitt-Greensburg with 15 and 10 points respectively. Mancini continued his hot shooting from three-point distance knocking in five of his 10 attempts, while Bondi nearly recorded a double-double hauling in eight rebounds. Mancini currently sits a top the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in three-pointers made with 29. 

Illinois College had five players score double-figures on the afternoon, led by Max Stutsman's game-high 23 points on 9-of-19 from the court.

Pitt-Greensburg put together an efficient day shooting the ball hitting 26-of-its-53 attempts for a 49.1% clip as well as 9-of-21 from behind the three-point arc. The Bobcats also came up clutch from the charity stripe hitting 12-of-15 for 80.0%, its fourth time in the last five games they have shot over 80% from the free-throw line. 

The Bobcats held Illinois to 26-of-63 from the field, but the Blueboys knocked down 11 three-pointers as well as 18-of-22 from the free-throw line. 

Pitt-Greensburg got off to a quick start as it led 7-0 over the first 90 seconds of the contest, but the Blueboys answered with a 10-0 run of their own to take a 10-7 lead with 14:33 left in the opening half. 

Illinois College extended the advantage to 12-9, but buckets from Seigfreid and Burt gave the lead back to the Bobcats. 

Pitt-Greensburg remained in front on the scoreboard until Illinois College would take a 26-25 lead with 8:26 left, but the lead would not last long as Burt scored a layup to put the Bobcats back in front. 

Two free-throws from Brady Hays catapulted the Blueboys back in front, which they would remain in the lead for the remainder of the half and head into the half with a five-point margin, 44-39. 

Illinois College pushed its lead to 63-49 at the halfway mark of the second half, but the Bobcats clawed back and would trim the deficit to four (63-49) with 8:04 left on a layup by Seigfreid. 

With 3:14 remaining in regulation, a steal and a layup from Bondi got the Bobcats with one (70-69), before the Blueboys called timeout to try and stop the momentum from Pitt-Greensburg. The timeout worked for Illinois College as the home team on the scoreboard answered with a quick 9-2 run to push its lead to eight with 1:23 left in the game. 

Pitt-Greensburg comeback attempt would ultimately come up short as it fell 81-73.
