Men’s Basketball Falls In Final Home Game Of The 2016-17 Season To La Roche

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team put forth a gritty effort but would come up short in the win column falling 83-56 to La Roche Wednesday night in Chambers Hall.

Pitt-Greensburg went into halftime trailing by just 10, 38-28, but La Roche put together an incredible second half shooting a blistering 61.5% and knocking down 9-of-13 from behind the three-point arc.

Kyle Bondi led the way for the Bobcats tying a game-high with 18 points and Isaiah Zeise provided a spark off the bench with eight points. Zeise was one of four players to score off the bench and through the game Pitt-Greensburg got great contributions from its non-starters as it totaled 24 points on the evening. Jay Grubb also played a solid game for the home side scoring eight points and grabbing a team-high seven boards in 33 minutes of action.

Trell Thomas came off the bench and led the Redhawks with 18 points on 6-of-11 from the floor and hauled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Pitt-Greensburg would trail 5-0 in the opening moments of the first half but would come back and take a 12-9 lead with 12:51 to go in the opening 20 minutes on a layup by Zeise.

Thomas answered for La Roche with a three-ball to tie the game at 12 and was at it again just 13 seconds later, as he got in the passing lane and converted the steal into a layup to give the Redhawks the lead for good.

The Bobcats return to the court Saturday when it faces Pitt-Bradford in the regular-season finale at 3:00 p.m.
