Blake Shields scored 12 points off the bench and knocked down three shots from behind the three-point arc, but the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team had a tough time mustering up an offensive attack shooting just 29.1% from the floor as it fell 82-46 at Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon.
Penn State Behrend managed to hold the Bobcats to just 16-of-55 from the field. Despite struggling on offense for much of the afternoon, Pitt-Greensburg tied a season-high with 11 makes from the three-point arc on 31 attempts.
Behrend was efficient on offense connecting on 32-of-64 for a 50.0% clip and knocked down 9-of-25 from three-point distance. The Lions had five players reach double-figures led by Justin Gorny's game-high 18.
For Pitt-Greensburg,
David Knox chipped in with a career-high nine points and was a perfect 3-for-3 on three-point attempts. In all, six players had at least one made three-point in a losing effort for the Bobcats.
Penn State Behrend raced out to a 14-0 run over the game's first six minutes before
Joe Mancini ended the run and put the Bobcats on the scoreboard with a three-pointer with 13:40 left in the first half.
Pitt-Greensburg would trail 46-22 at half after shooting just 25.9% in the first half. The second half was better for the Bobcats as they shot 32.1% and were outscored 36-24 in the second 20 minute period, but ultimately came up shot falling 86-42.
The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday, when they travel to Steubenville, Ohio to face Franciscan.
