GREENSBURG- Despite a season-high 30 digs from senior libero
Erica Bosh, the Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Earlham College Sunday afternoon in Chambers Hall.
Pitt-Greensburg came out with a spirtied effort and took the first set, 25-19, but Earlham would answer with three-straight sets for the victory. The two sides battled back and forth through a high-paced third set and it looked as if the Bobcats would take a 2-1 lead as they led 22-17, but the Quakers fought back and tie the game at 24 all.
The Bobcats would go ahead 25-24 as
Amanda Ross smashed down a kill, but Earlham once again tied the game at 25 on a net foul from the Bobcats.
The Quakers then put their serve into the set, which once again gave Pitt-Greensburg a one point lead with a chance to win the set on the next serve.
Julia Stewart pounded home a kill and the third set would once again be deadlocked at 26. Earlham proceeded to win the next two points and would take set three in thrilling fashion, 28-26.
Ross led the Bobcats in kills with 11, followed by
Autumn Karlheim and
Rayli Turek, who each totaled nine and eight respectively.
Emma Dongilli had 31 assists on the afternoon, while
Kassi Niver provided a spark from behind the service line with two aces.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday, when it plays host to Waynesburg at 7 pm.
