France Posts Career-High 21 But Men's Basketball Falls At St. Vincent

LATROBE- JoJo France scored a career-high 21 points, but the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team (2-3) fell 82-73 to St. Vincent (5-1), in a non-conference matchup Saturday evening. 

France totaled 21 points on 8-of-11 from the floor, including knocking down all four of his attempts from behind the three-point arc. Cam Seigfreid was also in double-figures for Pitt-Greensburg totaling 12 points and three rebounds, while Kyle Bondi added 10 points and four boards. 

St. Vincent got out of the gates quickly reeling off a 10-1 run over the opening 2:18 of the game, before JoJo France knocked down one of his two first half three-pointers to get the Bobcats within six points. 

The Bearcats used constant pressure on both sides of the court and forced Pitt-Greensburg into 16 first half turnovers, which St. Vincent converted into 15 points compared to just six for the visitors. 

Throughout the opening 20 minutes, the Bobcats got great production from its bench totaling 20 points, 13 of which came from France, who was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and 2-of-2 from three-point distance. 

Saint Vincent shot 48.5% from the field in the opening half, knocking down 16-of-33 attempts, while the Bobcats hit 9-of-22 for 40.9%. The Bearcats led for the entire first half and held a 45-27 advantage at the halftime break. 

The Bobcats got off to a quick start to begin the second half, scoring seven of the first nine points to cut the deficit to 11 with 17:15 left in regulation.

Pitt-Greensburg continued to whittle down the St. Vincent lead and got to within three points with 3:13 remaining as Seigfreid and France knocked down back-to-back possessions, which forced a timeout from the Bearcats. 

Following the timeout, St. Vincent reeled off an 8-0 run to put the game away. After turning the ball over 16 times in the first half, the Bobcats took much better care of its possessions in the second half. committing just six TO's. 

Pitt-Greensburg also shot the ball extremely well over the final 20 minutes, connecting on 16-of-32 field goal attempts as well as five three-pointers. 

The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday evening, when they open up Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Play, with a road contest at Franciscan. Wednesday's matchup is set to start at 8 pm.
