Men's Basketball Rolls To Win Over Houghton

OBERLIN, Ohio- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team had three players post double-figure scoring outputs as the Bobcats topped Houghton College 74-69 Friday evening in the opening game of the Oberlin College Holiday Classic.

The Bobcats will conclude the Holiday Classic tomorrow afternoon, with a matchup against Oberlin at 4 pm.

Cam Seigfreid led the Bobcats offensively, scoring a team-high 16 points on 5-of-13 from the floor. The sophomore guard also also grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists, totaled three steals and hit all six attempts from the free-throw line.

David Runco came off the bench and provided a lift for the Bobcats, tallying a career-best 14 points on 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from behind the three-point arc. In his first start this year, Kyle Bondi totaled 11 points, four rebounds, handed out three assists, and added a steal to propel the Bobcats to the win.

The Bobcats had a decided edge in the paint as well as on the glass. Pitt-Greensburg outscored Houghton 56-28 inside the paint and outrebounded Houghton 38-37, which included a 28-23 advantage in second chance points.

The two sides traded baskets to begin the first half and following a jumper from Antonio Deadmon, Houghton would lead 14-13 just under 11 minutes left until halftime. Following the basket by the Crusaders, the Bobcats would come back on the next possession and get a bucket from Seigfreid to jump back in the lead.

The lead would once again change hands as Deadmon once again put himself in the scoring column, but on the next time down the floor, Brady Kington connected on a layup, which put Pitt-Greensburg in the lead for the remainder of the first half. The Bobcats would hold a 40-31 advantage at the halftime break.

Pitt-Greensburg would remain ahead for the entire second half with its largest lead (13) coming on a four-point play by Runco with 7:44 left in regulation. The Crusaders would cut the deficit to three points on two different occasions, but the Bobcats came up clutch from the charity stripe, hitting 8-of-9.
