Men's Basketball Drops Double Overtime Heartbreaker At Pitt-Bradford Saturday Afternoon

BRADFORD- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team (3-6, 1-3 AMCC) fell 87-82 in double overtime to Pitt-Bradford (2-5, 1-3 AMCC), Saturday afternoon in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest inside KOA Arena.

Pitt-Greensburg had three players reach double-figures, led by Cam Seigfreid who totaled 21 points, which was his fourth game this season with 20 or more points. The sophomore guard also grabbed four rebounds and added two steals. Cody Spaid was the second player for the Bobcats in double-figures, posting 18 points on 7-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from three. JoJo France provided a spark off the bench, adding 13 points on 4-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-7 from behind the three-point arc.

Brady Kingston also put together a solid game for Pitt-Greensburg, recording eight points and dishing out a team-high six assists, while adding five rebounds.

Pitt-Bradford placed three in double-figures, led by Desmond Brogsdale's 23 points.

Trailing by five with eight seconds left, head coach Brody Jackson called a timeout to setup a play. The timeout worked as Matt Johnson connected on a layup to make the game a one score contest (68-65) with just seconds remaining.

Following a timeout after the made basket, Pitt-Greensburg clamped down defensively and forced an errant Bradford pass, which gave the ball back to the Bobcats with a chance to tie the game and send it into overtime.

On the inbounds play, Kinston passed the ball to France, who received the pass and attempted an off- balance shot from behind the three-point arc. France's attempt bounced off the rim, hit both the top of the backboard and the front of the rim, then fell into the hoop to tie the game at 68 and force overtime.

The excitement from a dramatic ending to regulation carried over into the extra time for Pitt-Greensburg as Kingston gave the Bobcats a 70-68 lead with 3:46 left in extra time.

The two sides traded baskets as the first overtime period featured six lead changes and three ties. With just over a minute left, Brogsdale's layup put the Panthers up 76-74, but the Bobcats would come right back and tie the contest at 76.

Each team could not convert on their next possessions as the game would head to a second overtime period.

Pitt-Bradford opened with three-straight buckets to begin the period to push its lead to five (81-76). The next time the Bobcats had the basketball, Johnson hit a jumper followed by two free-throws to get Pitt-Greensburg to within a point (81-80).

Bradford once again would pushed its lead to five with just over a minute left, but like they had done all game, the Bobcats came right back and cut the deficit to 85-82.

The Bobcats would force a turnover following the Bondi hoop, which setup a chance to once again tie the game. However, on the next possession, Pitt-Greensburg had two good looks at the basket, but could not get its shot to fall, as Bradford would hold on for an 87-82 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Dec. 28 when it competes in the Oberlin College Holiday Classic. The Bobcats are scheduled to face Houghton College, Friday evening (Dec. 28) at 7 pm and conclude the classic with a matchup against Oberlin, the following afternoon at 4 pm.
