La Roche Mounts Second Half Comeback To Top @UPGbasketball

PITTSBURGH- Despite shooting 52% in the first half, the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team lost 70-67 at La Roche in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season road finale Wednesday evening inside the Kerr Fitness Center.

Pitt-Greensburg will close out the 2017-18 regular season Saturday afternoon, when it plays host to Pitt-Bradford at 2 pm. Prior to Saturday's contest, Bobcat senior Joe Mancini will be honored during the Senior Day festivities.

The Bobcats came out firing in the opening half, connecting on 15-of-29 from the field for 52% and knocked down 5-of-12 from behind the three-point arc. La Roche managed to hit 14-of-32 for 44% during the first half and 3-of-11 from three, as Pitt-Greensburg held a 39-34 advantage at halftime.

The Bobcats led for the entire opening 20 minutes, except for a tie at 2-2, which occured just 70 seconds into the contest. David Knox's layup at the 15:22 mark gave Pitt-Greensburg its largest lead of the half at 18-11. David Runco's layup with 10 seconds left in the half sent the Bobcats into the break holding a 39-34 lead.

Pitt-Greensburg continued to hold the advantage on the scoreboard for much of the second half, but two free-throws by Dion Etheridge tied the game at 60 and the Redhawks would follow with a three-pointer by Zach Gould to take their first lead of the evening, 63-60.

Arnes Bajgora connected on two of his game-high 29 points to put the Redhawks ahead 65-60, but Pitt-Greensburg answered with a jumper from Kyle Bondi and a three-pointer from Cam Seigfreid to once again tie the game at 65 with under a minute left.

Following the Seigfreid three, Gould connected on his second three of the game to put La Roche back in front 68-65. Despite a late bucket from Kyle Bondi, the Redhawks would hold on for the 70-67 win.

Seigfreid led the Bobcats with 14 points on 5-of-13 from the field and 2-of-8 from three, while Mancini and Bondi each added 12 points. Mancini made four three-pointers and Bondi recorded a double-double with 10 points to go along with 12 points.
