@Pittgbgbaseball Takes Two From Medaille Friday Afternoon; Moves To 7-1 In AMCC Play

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against Medaille Friday afternoon at Bobcat Park. Pitt-Greensburg took the opening game of the day 7-5 and completed the sweep with an 11-10 comeback victory in the nightcap.

With the victories, Pitt-Greensburg has won seven-in-a-row and improves to 14-7 overall and moves to 7-1 in conference play, while Medaille falls to 9-10 and 2-2 in the AMCC.

Patrick Aul paced the Bobcat offense, going 7-for-9 at the plate, with two runs and drove in a team-high four RBI, while Chris Common, Noah Beasley, and Mike Parlak each collected three hits. Parlak also drilled his eighth and ninth home runs of the season, including belting the game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth in game two.

Game 1- Medaille 5, Pitt-Greensburg 7

Medaille jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in their first at-bats of the afternoon, but Pitt-Greensburg tallied a run in the bottom of the first on Tyler Holland's RBI single.

Dakota McWilliams shut the Mavs out in the second and the Bobcats took advantage in the bottom of the inning, tallying three runs on two hits to take the lead. Common led off the inning reaching base on an error and would come around to score on a single by Aul. Later in the inning, Beasley plated Aul with a single to shot, and Derek Shaw also would score on the play, as Pitt-Greensburg led 4-1 after two inning of action.

Medaille got a run back in the third, but Common and Aul drove in runs in the home half of the fourth to push the Bobcat advantage to 6-3.

Aul was it at again in the sixth, driving in his third run of the game and after the first two batters reached base in the seventh for the Mavs, Pitt-Greensburg brought Ben Green in to close the game. Green did not allow a hit and recorded the final two outs of the inning on a strikeout and a foul out, as he earned his third save and sent Pitt-Greensburg to the 7-5 win.

Game 2- Medaille 10, Pitt-Greensburg 11

The second game of the day provided much drama for the fan bases of both schools. Medaille broke an 9-9 tie getting tallying a run in their final at-bats to take a 10-9 lead, but on a 1-1 pitch, Parlak tied the game at 10 and sent the crowd into a frenzy belting his second home run of the day. With runners on first and second, Medaille intentionally walked Zack Zimmerman to setup a potential inning ending double play. Beasley stepped to the plate and after going up 3-1 in the count, drilled a ground ball, but on his back swing, his bat caught the catchers glove and the umpire deemed catchers interference which brought Kiester in to score the winning run.

Evan Johnston came on and tossed the eighth and ninth innings and allowed just one hit and struck out one to earn his first career win.

The Bobcats return to the field tomorrow afternoon, hosting Pitt-Bradford for Senior Day. Prior to Saturday's twin-bill, Pitt-Greensburg seniors, Brandon Hoener, Tony Pacelli, Mike Spadafore, Bill Minnick, Ian Hart Aul, Zimmerman, and Parlak will be recognized.
