GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team (8-7) tied a season high 13 hits in a 9-4 victory over Mount Union (13-5) Tuesday at Wild Things Park home of the Washington Wild Things.

The Bobcats totaled nine runs on 13 hits as Mike Dolan, Reno Rainey, Tyler Holland, Mike Parlak, and Chris Common each recorded multi-hit performances in the victory. The second through six hitters in the lineup did the majority of the damage for Pitt-Greensburg, combining for 12 hits, six runs, and five RBI.

Rainey and Parlak each collected three hits on the afternoon, while Dolan, Holland, and Common each had two base knocks for Pitt-Greensburg. Parlak had a hit in all three plate appearances while driving in two runs on the day, while Rainey went 3-for-5 with two runs. Common also helped aid in the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and was also hit by a pitch on two separate occasions.

Dean Edwards improved his season record to 2-0, as the freshman right hander allowed two hits over three innings and struck out one, while Arron Skinner earned his first save after he did not allow a hit in 2.2 innings.

Mount Union struck for a run in the first, but the Bobcats got the run right back in the bottom of the inning, as Parlak scored Dolan on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

The game remained tied at one until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Bobcats would strike for three runs. Parlak drilled a one out single through the left side and advanced to second on a passed ball. Common was hit by a pitch and Ian Hart reached on a fielders choice which allowed Parlak to advance to third, but Common was tagged out at second for the second out of the inning. Dan Kiester then reached on an error by the first baseman, which allowed Parlak to score. Kiester and Hart would come around to score on a throwing error by the third baseman, as Zimmerman hit a grounder to third, which was thrown wide of first base allowing two additional runs from the Bobcats.

Holland and Parlak each drove in a run in the sixth on run scoring singles to increase the Bobcat advantage to five (6-1) with three innings left to play.

The Purple Raiders added three runs on three hits in the seventh to cut the deficit to 6-4, but Hart scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning to push the lead back to three (7-4).

Pitt-Greensburg put the game away in the eighth as Common drove in two on a double down the left field line to seal a 9-4 victory for Pitt-Greensburg.

Pitt-Greensburg is scheduled to return to action Saturday afternoon as they take to the road to face Penn State Behrend for an AMCC doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
