Pat Aul came through as he scored Holland with an RBI groundout and Derek Shaw followed with a single that brought in two runs. Two batters later, Chris Common drove in Shaw as the Bobcats led 4-3 after two innings.

Dakota McWilliams was brought on to pitch for Bill Minnick and the junior right hander did not allow a hit. Pitt-Greensburg took advantage of the excellent inning by McWilliams in the bottom of the frame. Holland drilled his ninth long ball of the season to increase the Pitt-Greensburg lead to 5-3, and Doland added a second run in the frame, scoring on a Lion balk.

Penn State Behrend rallied for two runs in the fourth, but Pitt-Greensburg responded with a four-run inning in the home half of the inning.

The Lions added crossed home plate three times in the fifth, but the Bobcats continued to click offensively in the bottom of the inning. Common doubled down the left field line which scored Daniel Kiester, who smoked a ball off the left field fence to begin the frame. Rainey followed Common with a run-scoring single and later in the inning, Dolan plated two with a double to left center.

Game 1- Pitt-Greensburg 3, La Roche 6

HOW IT HAPPENED

La Roche got out to a quick 2-0 advantage with two runs in their first at-bats in the bottom of the first inning. The Redhawks totaled just one hit in the inning, but after recording the first two outs of the frame, Bobcat starter Andy Prentice struggled with his command, totaling four walks in the inning.

After a rough first frame, Prentice settled down and gave Pitt-Greensburg four solid innings, allowing just four hits and struck out four, but would be credited with the loss for just the second time this season.

Rainey doubled to lead off the second for the Bobcats, but the visitors were unable to do anything with the runner in scoring position.

The Bobcts had another opportunity to get on the board in the fifth, as Ian Hart smacked a leadoff single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, but Thomas escaped the inning without surrendering a run for La Roche.

Pitt-Greensburg ended the shutout bid with a run in the sixth, as Rainey advanced to third on a base hit from Parlak and came around to score on an error by the Redhawk catcher.

La Roche tallied three runs in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 5-1. Joe Professori led the charge for the Redhawks, belting a two-run shot over the left field fence.

Aul and Kiester both reached to begin the seventh and La Roche went to the bullpen to bring in a relief pitcher. Common and Holland each drove in runs for the Bobcats asn they got within two (5-3) with three innings left.

La Roche would go on to add an insurance run in the eighth and Shane Emmrich came on to pitch the ninth for the Redhawks and earned his seventh save as La Roche held on for a 6-3 victory.
