Volleyball Falls In Non-Conference Action At Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio- The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team (0-12) dropped a non-conference match at Muskingum (10-2) Wednesday evening, falling 3-0. 
Muskingum won the match in straight-sets, by scores of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-14. 

Alexis Ray led the way offensively with six kills, followed by Mackenzie Schropp's five, and Sabre Turner, who chipped in with three kills. 

Kassi Niver aided the offensive output with three service aces, while it was Emma Dongilli that dished out 10 assists. Ray also added a defensive block, while Dongilli, Niver, and Brittany Eyler helped on the defensive end with eight digs each. 

The Bobcats totaled 17 kills for the match as well as 16 assists and four service aces. Defensively, they added a block and recorded 44 digs. 

The Bobcats jumped out to a quick start taking a 3-1 lead on a service ace by Dongilli, but Muskingum got into a rhythm and took a 10-5 advantage on a service ace. 

Later on in the set, the Bobcats continued to keep things close and would close to deficit to five (17-12) on Niver's ace, but the Muskies reeled off five-straight points and would go on to take the opening set 25-14. 

In the second set, the Muskies jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before Ray put the Bobcats on the board with a kill. The Muskies continued to run their offense for the rest of the set and would take a two set lead with a 25-10 victory. 

The Muskies continued the momentum into the third set with three-straight points, by back-to-back kills by Turner and Ray got the Bobcats with two. After the kill by Ray, Muskingum got five-straight points, before the Bobcats put together their best stretch of the match with four-straight points. 

Kamryn Smith's service error put the Bobcats with four points, but Muskingum put the match out of reach with eight-straight points. The Muskies would take the third set by a score of 25-14. 

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Thursday evening, when it travels to Waynesburg for a non-conference match starting at 7 pm.
