France Erupts For Career-High 33 Points In Loss To Mt. Aloysius

GREENSBURG- JoJo France scored a career-high 33 points, but the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team (4-11, 1-7 AMCC) fell 78-73 to Mt. Aloysius (9-7, 5-4 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday evening inside Chambers Hall.

France came off the bench and poured in a career-best 33 points on 13-of-19 from the floor and hit 5-of-9 from behind the three-point arc. The freshman guard had 14 points at the halftime break, but helped propel the Bobcat comeback, with 19 points after halftime on 7-of-10 shooting.

Pitt-Greensburg outscored the Mounties 44-34 in the second half and shot 59% from the field, but the Bobcats were unable to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit, as Mt. Aloysius hit 16-of-30 from the floor and 8-of-19 from three.

Kyle Bondi also tallied double-figures for Pitt-Greensburg with 11 points on 5-of-7 from the floor and also grabbed four rebounds. Although the Mounties held Cam Seigfreid to just nine points, the sophomore guard dished out a career-best eight assists and also grabbed seven rebounds.

Josiah Jones led four players in double-figures for the Mounties with 22 points, 18 of which came from behind the three-point arc. Jones tallied 17 of his 22 points in the first half, but the Bobcats held the senior guard to just five points after halftime.

Mt. Aloysius led 44-29 at the halftime break and pushed its lead to as much as 20 (49-29) with 18:22 left in regulation, but the Bobcats continued to claw back and would cut the deficit to single-digits with 4:37 left in the game.

With 1:00 to go, France's layup got the Bobcats within five-points (71-66) and on the next possession forced a turnover from the Mounties. With the ball in their hand, Pitt-Greensburg had a chance to cut the deficit to a one-possession game, but a three-point attempt the next time down the court was no good, and the Mounties managed to stave off the furious comeback, hitting 10-of-13 from the foul line. With clutch free-throw shooting in the second half, Mt. Aloyius would hold on for the 78-73 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday afternoon, when it takes to the road to face D'Youville at 3 pm.
