Men's Basketball Rolls To 91-68 Victory Over Pitt-Bradford

GREENSBURG- Pitt-Greensburg (6-13, 3-9 AMCC) scored 54 second-half points and shot 67% from the floor after halftime en route to a 91-68 victory over Pitt-Bradford (3-14, 2-9 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.

The two teams went into the halftime break all tied at 37, but Pitt-Greensburg caught fire after the intermission. The Bobcats scorched the court in the second half, totaling 54 points and shooting 67%.

The 54 points are the second most points scored in a single half this season for the Bobcats, trailing only the 56 scored in the second half against Penn State Altoona.

Three players reached double-figures for the Bobcats, led by Matt Johnson's 20 points off the bench, followed by 15 from JoJo France. France notched his third-straight game with double-digits and his sixth in the last seven contests, hitting 6-of-8 from the floor and 2-of-4 from three. Nate Burt also came off the bench and tallied his best scoring output of the season with 10 points, three boards, and two blocks.

All afternoon long, the Bobcats did a great job of moving the ball around on offense, dishing out 24 assists on a season-best 37 made field goals.

Defensively, Pitt-Greensburg held Desmond Brogsdale who scored a game-high 23 points and six steals in the matchup between the two teams earlier this season, to just 10 points on 4-of-10 from the floor. In the game earlier this season, Pitt-Bradford totaled 19 steals and forced 24 turnovers, but on Saturday afternoon, the script was completely flipped, as the Panthers had just six steals and forced eight turnovers.

Pitt-Bradford jumped out to a 16-10 advantage with 12:43 left in the opening half, but the Bobcats responded with a 7-0 run to claim a one-point lead on a layup from Burt. The Panthers pushed their advantage to six with 8:43 left in the frame, but the two sides continued to trade baskets and headed into the half all tied at 37.

Bradford scored the first points of the second half, but that was its last lead of the afternoon. Cody Spaid and Kyle Bondi hit back-to-back baskets to put the Bobcats back in the lead, which they would hold for the remainder of the game.

Pitt-Greensburg was caught fire after halftime, scoring 54 points on 67% shooting and would revenge a early season loss between the two teams with a 91-68 win.

The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday evening, playing host to Penn State Altoona at 8 pm.
