Volleyball Drops Five-Set Heartbreaker At Pitt-Bradford Saturday Afternoon

BRADFORD- The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team (7-17, 3-5 AMCC) lost a five-set heartbreaker to Pitt-Bradford (12-13, 4-3 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contest Saturday afternoon. 

Pitt-Greensburg and Pitt-Bradford split the opening four sets, but it would the Panthers that would prevail in the final stanza by a score of 15-11. 

Bradford opening the match with a 25-16 opening set win, but the Bobcats evened the match, winning set two, 25-21. The Panthers took a 2-1 advantage with a win in set three, but Greensburg made it two sets each with a 25-23 win in the fourth set. Ultimately, behind eight kills and a .267 hitting percentage in the final stanza, Bradford would pick up a win with a 15-11 victory in the final set. 

For the match, Pitt-Greensburg tallied 49 kills on 163 swings for a .117 attack percentage, and were led by Emma Halutick's 16 kills, followed by 15 from Mackenzie

Schopp and Alexis Ray's seven. Emma Dongilli paced the offense with 43 assists and also added two blocks, while on the defensive end, Trinity Ryan led the way with a season-best 18 digs, followed by 15 and 14 from Halutick and Schropp respectively. 

The Bobcats best set of the afternoon was the fourth stanza, where it tallied 14 kills on 45 swings for a .178 hitting percentage. 


Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday evening, when it travels to take on Penn State Altoona at 7 pm.
