PITTSBURGH, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's basketball team dropped a conference matchup for the first time this season on Saturday (Dec. 21) at LaRoche University, 89-73. The Bobcats record moves to 7-2 on the year and 5-1 in the AMCC. The Redhawks improve to 5-5 and stay unbeaten in the AMCC at 5-0.

Five Bobcats tallied double digit points, led by Cam Seigfreid and Torian Jenkins who each tallied 14 points. Jenkins also pulled down 10 rebounds to earn his first double-double of his career. JoJo France made three deep balls on his way to 13 points, while Cody Spaid and Matt Johnson pitched in 11 and 10 respectively.

JoJo France opened the contest with a three pointer, but LaRoche answered and held on to the lead for the rest of the first half. The score was even three times over the first half (3-3, 5-5, and 8-8). LaRoche obtained their largest lead of the frame at 9:34 when they capped off a 9-2 run to go ahead by 12.

Pitt Greensburg went on a 10-1 run from 7:06 to 3:40 to close the gap to one (27-26). Matt Johnson started the run with a jumper and Cam Seigfreid finished it with two free throw and had 5 points during the spurt. LaRoche got back in front by five late in the half before a Johnson basket made it a one possession game (35-32) at the break.

Early in the second half the Bobcats went on an 8-0 run over about two minutes, beginning at the 16-minute mark, to take their first lead since the opening basket. David Runco scored the go-ahead basket at 14:26, making the score 47-46. Spaid and France each netted a three pointer during the run.

LaRoche got the lead back and took it up to eight at the 11:21 mark. Runco made a three pointer to make it a three-point game at 10:05 and Jenkins made a layup at 8:46 to return the game back to a three-point margin.

After the layup by Jenkins, LaRoche got its lead back up to double figures. Tyler Fredrick, of the Redhawks, made a thunderous dunk at the seven-minute mark, he finished the afternoon with 34 points. The Redhawks ended the game on a 17-6 run over the final 3:20 to close out the win.

UPG controlled the scoring from behind the arc. The Blue and Gold shot a solid 40% as a team from three-point land, going 8-for-20, while LaRoche went 4 of 20 (20%). Inside the paint proved to be the difference. LaRoche outscored Pitt-Greensburg there 54-30.
