Men's Basketball Drops Road Contest To Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team (7-15, 4-11 AMCC) could not overcome a seven-point halftime deficit as it fell 73-66 at Mt. Aloysius (12-10, 9-6 AMCC), in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday evening.

Cam Seigfreid and Kyle Bondi each posted double-figure scoring outputs for the Bobcats, totaling 12 and 10 points respectively.

As a team, Pitt-Greensburg forced 16 turnovers and converted the extra posessions into 23 points, compared to just 13 for the Mounties. The Bobcats also had the advantage at the foul line, hitting 13-of-15, including 11-of-13 in the second half, compared to 8-of-12 for Mt. Aloysius. Mt. Aloysius won the rebounding battle as they totaled 34 rebounds and limited the Bobcats to a season-low 22 boards.

Mt. Aloysius led 35-28 at the halftime break and that proved to be the difference in the game as the two sides each scored 38 points after the halftime break.

Pitt-Greensburg led 19-10 midway through the opening period as Matt Johnson scored a fastbreak layup to put the Bobcats up nine.

The Mounties slowly crept back and reeled off an 11-2 run over the next two minutes and would tie the game at 21 on a three-pointer by Carlos Palacio.

The next trip down the floor, Julian Stover's bucket put Aloysius in the lead, which they would continue to hold for the remainder of the half.

Pitt-Greensburg tied the game at 35 on Bondi's layup just under two minutes into the second half, but the Mounties answered with a 16-2 spurt to put the game away.

Despite holding Aloysius to just two points over the final 2:23 of regulation, Pitt-Greensburg's comeback attempt would fall short, 73-66.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Saturday afternoon, when it welcomes Penn State Behrend to Chambers Hall. Saturday's game will also be Senior Day where prior to the tip, Kyle Bondi will be honored during a pre-game ceremony.
