@Pittgbgbaseball Drops Doubleheader To Ohio Northern

WINTER HAVEN, Fla- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team struggled offensively, managing just a combined five hits as it dropped a doubleheader to Ohio Northern, Friday afternoon at All Saints Academy.

Game One
Win- Bye (1-0)
Loss- Dakota McWilliams (0-1)

Both teams got off to a slow start to begin the afternoon with neither side generating much offense in their first at-bats. The Polar Bears would strike for a run in the top of the second and take the 1-0 lead after collecting two hits.

Ben Green drew a four-pitch walk in the third, but the Bobcats were unable to take advantage of the base runner.

Ohio Northern added a run in the fifth to double its advantage to 2-0 after five complete innings of action.

The Polar Bears continued to hold a 2-0 lead, but that would change in the bottom of the sixth. Green belted a one-out single to right field, and then advanced to third base when Brody Bonadio smacked a hard hit ball to first base, that was misplayed by Scott Beaton. With runners on first and third with just one-out, Mikey Sullivan plated the first run of the afternoon for Pitt-Greensburg with an RBI groundout.

Holding just a 2-1 lead into the top of the seventh, the Polar Bears led the inning off with a triple and that was the beginning of a three-run outburst to put the game away. The Polar Bears added three runs on three hits in their final at-bats of the first of two games on the day and would go on for the 5-1 victory.

Leaders
Mikey Sullivan (0-3, 1 RBI)
Ben Green (1-1, 1 R)

Game Two
Win- Jack Schaller (2-0)
Loss- Mikey Sullivan (0-1)

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to the lead with a run in the top of the first. Green drew the first of his three walks in the game to begin the inning and moved over to second on a dropped foul ball. Matt Mish singled to left field, which allowed Green to move over to third and Tyler Holland gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead as he grounded into an RBI fielders choice.

Unfortunately for Pitt-Greensburg, the lead would not last long, as the Polar Bears exploded for five runs on six hits in the bottom of the inning.
Ohio Northern added four runs in the bottom of the third to put the game out of reach.

Johnston scored Holland on an RBI base hit in the sixth, but Pitt-Greensburg would fall 12-2.
