@Pittgbgbaseball Tallies 12 Hits In Victory Over Salve Regina Sunday Afternoon

WINTER HAVEN, Florida- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team (1-6) collected 12 hits and never trailed as it rolled to a 12-9 victory over Salve Regina (2-4), Sunday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Stadium. 

After being limited offensively through its first five games to start its annual Florida trip, the Bobcats tallied a season-high 12 runs on 12 hits to get its first win of the season.

Neither team scored in the first inning, but Salve Regina took the lead in the second on a fielders choice by Michael DeFusco.

Pitt-Greensburg would come right in the top of the third and take the lead.  Nick Ackerman led off the inning with a strikeout, but reached first base on a passed ball. Ackerman moved over to second on a Brody Bonadio hit, that was misplayed by Tom Beliveau. Dan Kiester struck out later in the inning, but reached on a wild pitch and Tyler Holland smacked a double, which scored both Kiester and Bonadio to put the Bobcats in front 2-1. 

In the fourth inning, Mikey Sullivan scored the third run of the afternoon for the Bobcats, crossing home plate on a wild pitch. 

Salve Regina doubled to begin the fourth, but Iannuzzo sent the Seahawks down in order to end the inning. 

In the top of the sixth, Pitt-Greensburg exploded for four runs on four hits to extend its lead to 7-1, but in the bottom of the inning, the Seahawks plated two to cut the deficit to 7-3 after six innings of play. 

In the seventh inning, Ackerman put the Bobcats ahead 8-3 as he scored Evan Johnston with a sacrifice fly to centerfield. 

Holland plated the ninth run of the contest for Pitt-Greensburg and later came around to score on a wild pitch, as the Bobcats led 10-3 heading into the home-half of the eighth inning. 

The Seahawks put together a six run eighth inning to cut the deficit to 10-9 with just one inning left to play. 

Pitt-Greensburg put things out of reach as they plated two runs on three hits in the ninth inning.  Bonadio led off the inning with a single and came around to score on a wild pitch, and Chris Common drove in Kiester with an RBI base hit. Kiester smacked a double earlier in the inning to left field.

Abdi Rodriguez-Polanco came on in the ninth and sent the Seahawks down 1-2-3 to give Pitt-Greensburg the 12-9 victory.
