@Pittgbgbaseball Comes Up Short Against William Patterson

WINTER HAVEN, Fla- After dropping the first contest of the day 22-4 to William Patterson, the Pitt-Greensburg baseball team (1-8) used a four-run sixth inning to take the game at seven, but Grasson's seventh inning single lifted William Paterson to the 7-6 victory. 

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action tomorrow (Wednesday) for its final game in Florida, facing #25 ranked Wheaton College (Mass) for a 9:30 am first-pitch.

The Bobcats jumped out to the lead in their first at-bats of the second game of the day. Chris Common smacked a two-out triple to center field, which scored Kiester to put Pitt-Greensburg up 1-0. 

William Patterson answered the run with a three-run burst in the second to grab a 3-1 advantage after two innings of play.

Jordan Cavanaugh drove in the second run for Pitt-Greensburg, belting a single to left field, which scored Common to cut the deficit to 3-2 heading into the fifth stanza. 

The Pioneers would plate three runs in the top of the sixth, but in the bottom of the inning, the Pitt-Greensburg offense would get clicking and tie the contest at six. Cavanaugh drove in Evan Johnston for the first run of the inning and Ben Green later drove in Matt Mish . Cavanaugh crossed home plate for the third run of the inning and Tyler Holland belted an RBI single to center field, which tied the game at six. 

Pitt-Greensburg got the first batter in the inning to ground out for the first out of the inning, but the next two batters reached on an error and a hit by pitch respectively. The fourth batter of the inning was also hit by a pitch to load the bases and Grasso drilled a single to put the Pioneers ahead 7-6.

With just one out and the bases still loaded, Mish manged to get Cuevas to ground out into a double play to end the inning. 

Heading into their final at-bats of the day, Mish reached base on an error, but the final two batters of the inning struck out and William Patterson would hang on for the victory.

In the opening game of the day between the two teams, the Pioneers plated 22 runs on 21 hits in the victory. 

William Patterson plated two runs in the first and added four more in the second and would never look back. The Pioneers put together a 12-run sixth to end any doubt in the game. 

Green, Common, Johnston, and Bonadio each drove in runs for the Bobcats, but Pitt-Greensburg would fall 22-4.
