@Pittgbgbaseball Drops 17-12 Slugfest At Thiel

GREENVILLE- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team dropped a 17-12 slugfest to Thiel, Wednesday afternoon in a single nine-inning non-conference battle.

The Bobcats reached double-digit runs for a second-straight day, positing 12 runs on 16 hits, but the Tomcat offense was on full display Wednesday afternoon, as the home side belted out 17 runs and 23 hits.

Brody Bonadio led the way with four hits for Pitt-Greensburg, followed by Tyler Holland, who went 3-for-6, with a double and three RBI.
Ben Green belted a home run for the second consecutive day and Evan Johnston belted his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fourth inning.

Jordan Cavanaugh, Green, Johnston, and Matt Mish each had two hits in the loss for the Bobcats.

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to the quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single down the left field line. Thiel came right back in the bottom of the frame and tied the score at one, but in the top of the second, Bonadio, Green, and Holland each drove in a run as the Bobcats led 4-1 heading into the home-half of the second.

Thiel rallied for two runs in the second and would tie the score at four with another run in the third.

Daniel Kiester walked to begin the fourth and moved over to third on a single from Bonadio. Green followed the freshman with an RBI ground out which scored Kiester. After Cavanaugh recorded the first out of the inning, Chris Common was hit by a pitch, and Johnston cleared the bases with a three-run bomb to put the Bobcats in front 9-4.

The Tomcats answered the five-run fourth inning with a three-run burst of their own in the home half to cut the deficit to 9-7.

Thiel sent the Bobcats down 1-2-3 in the fifth and tallied a five-run outburst in the bottom of the inning, as the home side would lead 12-9 after five innings of play.

Thiel added a run in the sixth to extend its lead to four, but Green's two-run home run in the bottom of the inning and a run from Mish, got the Bobcats within one, 13-12.

Sebastian put the Tomcats in front 14-12 with a single in the seventh and despite three hits in the eighth, the Bobcats would trail 14-12 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning.

Leading 14-12 in the eighth, the Tomcats put the game way with a five-run frame and would hold on for the 17-12 victory.
