Barlamas Nets Late Goal To Propel Women's Soccer Over Mount Aloysius, 1-0

CRESSON, PA - Alexia Barlamas broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute to propel the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Mount Aloysius in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play this evening.

Behind the late Barlamas goal and strong defense, the Bobcats improve to 11-2 on the season and 3-1 in AMCC play.

Lauren Yoder fended off all five shots that she faced on goal to collect shutout number 21.1 in her career, making her the all-time leader in shutouts at Pitt-Greensburg.

Barlamas fired four shots, including one off the crossbar early in the game. None was more important than her last one, however. With 12 minutes to play in the game, deadlocked at 0-0, she dribbled around the defender and scorched a shot to the back of the net from the box.

Pitt-Greensburg outshot the Mounties 23-13 (10-5 on goal). The Bobcats shot 16 times in the first half, but could not get on the scoreboard. Ashley Lucas led the Blue and Gold with eight shots and four on net, while Tiffany Michalek was right behind her with seven and three on goal.

The back line was on point yet again for the Bobcats, as they limited Mount Aloysius to two corner kicks and only two shots on net in the second half.

Eight of the 10 Pitt-Greensburg starters played all 90 minutes in the conference battle.

Pitt-Greensburg will stay on the road and head to New York for an AMCC matchup with Hilbert College on Saturday. Kick off is scheduled for 1 pm.
