Women's Soccer Thumps Hilbert In One-Sided Match, 4-0

HAMBURG, NY – The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team stormed past Hilbert College, 4-0, behind a strong defensive effort and balanced offensive attack this afternoon in their final road game of the regular season.

The Bobcats improve to 12-2 on the season and 4-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play. This was the final road trip of the regular season for Pitt-Greensburg. Traveling did not effect the Bobcats, as they went 9-1 on foreign turf this year. Hilbert drops to 2-7-1 and 1-4-1 in the AMCC with the loss.

The defense was relentless for the Blue and Gold, a reoccurring theme this season. They tied a season low in shots on goal and corner kicks allowed, with one apiece. The Hawks were only able to get off two shots, which is the third time this season the Bobcats have allowed two or less shots.

Lauren Yoder corralled the lone shot that came on net over her 90 minutes in goal to record her 11th win and fourth shutout of the season, extending her career shutouts record to 22.1.

Eight Bobcats had shots on goal, with Tiffany Michalek leading the charge at four. Michalek netted two goals in the contest. Her first came at the 30-minute mark to put the Bobcats ahead by two goals just before intermission. Then, she got the Pitt-Greensburg scoring started back up with a goal 13 minutes into the second half.

Freshman, Julia Rowe and Logan Jennings netted their second goals of the season to bookend the Bobcat scoring. Rowe led off the game with a goal 13 minutes in, and Jennings put the dagger in the back of the net off an assist from Ashley Lucas to push the lead to 4-0 with eight minutes left in the match.

Pitt-Greensburg rifled 18 shots in the first half and settled the pace down a little bit in the second with nine fires towards the net. The Bobcats put 16 of the 27 on goal, their second most shots on goal in a game this season.

The Bobcats will begin a three game home stand to end the season on Wednesday, when Penn State Altoona comes into town for a 1 pm match at Ridilla Field.
