Men's soccer earns first AMCC win over Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY – The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team earned its first conference win against Hilbert today, beating the Hawks 3-0. The Bobcats were stout on defense, holding the Hawks to zero shots on goal in the match.

Pitt-Greensburg got on the board in the 31st minute off the foot of Javin Melvin. This was Melvin's team-leading sixth goal of the season. Jason Argueta earned the assist on the goal.

The Bobcats found the back of the net twice in the second half. The first goal came from Jack Shirley in the 55th minute. This was Shirley's second goal of the season. Ross Hartley got in the score sheet with the helper on the goal.

Pitt-Greensburg's third and final goal came in the 62nd minute off the foot of Vinny Treonze. Treonze's goal was his fifth of the season and Hartley earned his second assist of the game on the goal.

While the Bobcats defense was the main story, the offense was also able to keep the pressure on the Hawks, earning 11 corner kicks over the course of the match. Pitt-Greensburg was also able to channel its physical play without getting called for fouls, giving Hilbert just four free kicks.

The team used just two subs off the bench, with Shirley leading the way while playing 40 minutes.

The Bobcats will come back home to finish the season on a three-game home stand. The first of the three games will take place on Wednesday when Penn State-Altoona visits the pitch at Ridilla Field.
