Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer keeps playoff hopes alive with victory over Penn State-Altoona

The Bobcat men's soccer team extended its conference win streak to two games and kept its playoff hopes alive by defeating the Lions of Penn State-Altoona at Ridilla Field on Wednesday. Two first half goals propelled the Bobcats, taking the match 2-0.

Pitt-Greensburg had its offense come alive, and then won the possession game to lull the Lions to sleep. Jason Argueta came off the bench after an injury to give the Bobcats its first goal in the 33rd minute. Argueta's goal was his second of the season and assisted by Javin Melvin. Carson Gilarno, also coming off the bench, tallied the second goal, coming off a free kick from goalkeeper Danny Rodgers.

Pitt-Greensburg came out firing, outshooting the Lions 9-6 in the first half. However, after the two goals hit the back of the net, the Bobcats started to milk the clock and play more of a keep away game. The team recorded just one shot in the second half, while PSU Altoona recorded seven. UPG challenged the Lions a=on all their shots, however, not giving the team any easy looks at the net.

Rodgers stood tall in goal, recording five saves to go along with his assist on the Gilarno goal. Connor Knipp and Adam Yoder led the charge for the Bobcats, playing all 90 minutes. Argueta and Gilarno led the charge off the bench.

Pitt Greensburg has two more home games to close out the season. The first will bet his Saturday as Pitt-Bradford visits the pitch at Ridilla Field. Kickoff is slated for 3:15
