Women's Soccer Knocks Off Alfred State in AMCC Game of the Week

ALFRED, NY - The University of Pittsburgh of Greensburg women's soccer team took down Alfred State on their home turf this afternoon, 4-0, in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week.

Pitt-Greensburg improves to 9-1 and 2-1 in AMCC play, while Alfred State drops to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference.

The Bobcats came out firing in the first half. They outshot the home squad 10-1 in the opening 45 minutes and took a 3-1 lead into halftime.

Becca Kubler was the first Bobcat to find the back of the net, when she took a pass from Logan Jennings and laced in her third goal of the season.

The Pioneers were physical in the first half with six fouls. One of those fouls led to a penalty kick for Tiffany Michalek. Michalek took advantage of the opportunity and shot the penalty kick right past the Alfred State goaltender to put the Bobcats up 2-0.

Alexz Rosser scored in the 38th minute on an assist from Michalek to put Pitt-Greensburg ahead by three.

Michalek was the lone goal scorer in the second half, netting her team leading 14th goal of the season, on an assist from Emily Bonelli, in the 85th minute.

Pitt-Greensburg's defense stood tall, only allowing three shots all day. Two of the Pioneers' shots were on target and both snared by Lauren Yoder. Yoder spent all 90 minutes in net to pick up her ninth win of the season.

The Bobcats have two non-conference matchups slated for next week. First up will be a trip to Juniata College on Wednesday at 7 pm.
