Women's Soccer Shut Down By Juniata

HUNTINGDON, PA - The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team traveled to Juniata College this evening and dropped the midweek non-conference game, 2-0.

The Bobcats drop to 9-2 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 5-3-3.

Juniata scored once in each half and kept the powerful Pitt-Greensburg offense at bay to earn the win.

The game was scoreless through most of the first half until the 42nd minute, when Talia Bertrando put the Eagles up 1-0. Juniata struck again in the 75th minute.

The Bobcats were kept to four shots in each half to total eight in the game, with four on goal. Tiffany Michalek led the Blue and Gold with four shots and two on goal. Both of Michalek's shots on goal came in the final five minutes, but were snared by the Juniata goalie to keep the Bobcats off the board. Alexz Rosser and Alexsia Barlamas had the other two shots on net, with one apiece.

Juniata put seven of their 10 shots on net against Lauren Yoder. Yoder made five saves, while surrendering two goals over her 90 minutes in goal.

Possession was in the Eagles hands for most of the night. They owned the corner kick advantage with 10 versus the Bobcats two. Juniata played physically as well, collecting 13 fouls in the match.

Pitt-Greensburg will be back in Greensburg for a match on Saturday at Ridilla Field. Allegheny College will be in town for a 1 pm start.
