Baseball Falls Twice To Penn State Behrend Saturday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Bobcat Park. Pitt-Greensburg dropped the opening game of the by a score of 21-5 and would come up short in game two, 18-3.

Game 1

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead In its first at-bats of the day, as Will Thorp smacked a one-out single and would come around to score on an RBI single from Cappellini.

Penn State Behrend would take control of the game as they put up nine runs in the top of the second.

Cappellini struck for his second RBI of the contest in the bottom of the third and both Hubbard and Green drove in a run in the fifth and sixth respectively, but the Bobcats would fall 21-5 in game one.

Game 2

Neither team scored a run in the first, but the Bobcats would strike for two in the home half of the second. Mikey Sullivan walked to begin the frame and

Davey roped a double down the right field line. Hubbard would score Sullivan on a base hit and Davey would come around to score on a fielders choice from Chandler Goodwin.

Behrend would take control of the game with a combined nine runs over the next two innings.

Carson drove in the third run of the contest in the home half of the seventh, but UPG would go down 18-3 to end the day.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader with Wilson, scheduled for 1 pm.
