Baseball Drops Doubleheader At La Roche Monday Afternoon

Box Score PITTSBURGH- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to La Roche in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference twinbill, Monday afternoon at the Baierl Athletic Complex.

Despite a complete game performance from starting pitcher Tony Iannuzo, Pitt-Greensburg lost the opening 7-0 and would fall 11-3 in the nightcap.

Notables

Game One- Pitt-Greensburg 0, La Roche 7
Green drilled a one-out double in the top of the first and advanced to third on an error, but the Bobcats were unable to take advantage of the base runner in scoring position.

Ianuzzo gave up a leadoff double in the home half of the inning but sent the next three batters down in order to end the inning.

In their second at-bats of the day, the Redhawks added three runs on two hits and took advantage of an error to jump out to a 3-0 advantage after two innings.

Pitt-Greensburg had a chance to trim the deficit in the seventh as Green and Cappellini hit back-to-back singles to begin the frame, but Hubbard hit into a double play, which slowed the scoring opportunity.

La Roche added two runs in the fourth and fifth inning and would go on for the 7-0 win to open the day.

Game Two- Pitt-Greensburg 3, La Roche 11
Pitt-Greensburg got off to a quick start in its first at-bats of game two, as Bonadio drilled a 2-0 pitch over the left centerfield fence for his first career home run to put the Bobcats up 1-0.

La Roche answered the home run with four scores in the bottom of the inning and added three additional runs in the second to take control of the game.

Despite being down 11-1 entering the ninth inning, Pitt-Greensburg would not go down quietly. Keller led off the inning with a double to left center. Thorp struck out but would reach on an error by the Redhawks catcher and DeRoss singled to load the bases. Bonadio came through with a double to right center to drive in two runs, but the Bobcats would fall 11-3.
